David Tennant
Former 'Doctor Who' star David Tennant thinks actor Matt Smith was a great choice to play the new Time Lord.
David Tennant thinks Matt Smith is "fantastic" as the new Time Lord in 'Doctor Who'.
The actor - whose last episode playing the titular character in the BBC One sci-fi series was broadcast on January 1 this year - admitted while he felt he left the show at the right time, his replacement has been a "great choice" for the role.
He said: "It felt just right, actually. It still does. It felt right to pass the baton on and for it to continue to thrive. I think that was all exactly as I would wish it to be.
"Genuinely, I think it's been brilliant. I've loved every second of it. It's a thrill for me to be watching as a viewer again. I knew Matt was going to be fantastic and he is. He's a great choice and he's knocked it out of the park."
The 39-year-old star explained watching his final episode of 'Doctor Who' was an "emotional" experience, but he felt he went out on a high.
David added to the Radio Times magazine: "I was at home in London on New Year's Day and that was where I watched the last episode. It felt emotional, naturally. It was a weird mixture of emotions, but above all I was very proud of it, very proud to be going out with a bang."

Smith really did do an amazing job, and it's really nice too see that Tennant thinks so as well.
Doctor Love. And I think any of the doctors previously can be proud that Doctor Who is still a worldwide craze. It's a marvelous show.

David Tennant is my favorite Doctor, and I resisted Matt Smith, but now I am a big fan. After a shaky start, Steven Moffat is doing a great job.
