'X Factor' judge Dannii Minogue has been told her pop star sister Kylie can not star on the show as her celebrity assistant - because it would cost too much.

'X Factor' judge Dannii Minogue has been told her sister Kylie Minogue can't appear in the show - because it would cost too much.

Judge Dannii, 38, had wanted her pop star sibling to help choose her final three contestants on the ITV1 show which starts on Saturday (21.08.10), after 'X Factor' bosses agreed to fly out her eight finalists to her home in Australia - where she has been on maternity leave after recently giving birth to baby Ethan.

But after choosing Kylie as her celebrity assistant to help with the decision process - like she did last year - TV chiefs at production company Talkback Thames refused.

They reportedly told Dannii they would not pay for the pop stars' plane ticket to Australia, telling her to choose someone already in Australia - or pay for the flight herself.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Dannii and Kylie are shell-shocked. Last year Kylie helped her out and they were whisked off to Dubai for judges' homes. Now someone has cut the purse strings.

"Dannii's been told to find someone closer to home. So it is either Natalie Imbruglia or Dame Edna!"

A spokesman for the 'X Factor' declined to comment but a source admitted locations and celebrity assistants were still being decided.

The news comes just a few days after it was revealed the 'X Factor' will have a staggering £33 million budget.

The singing contest received a massive cash boost after head judge Simon Cowell reportedly threatened to quit the show if he wasn't allowed the huge sum, which is £4 million more than was spent on last year's series.
