Queens of the Stone Age are preparing to work on a new album, which frontman Josh Homme has promised will be filled with ''explosions''.

Queens of the Stone Age's next album will sound like "fireworks".

The rockers - who haven't released an LP since 2007's 'Era Vulgaris' - have reunited after a hiatus and frontman Josh Homme already has ideas of what he wants their next record to be like, despite admitting he is unsure how to achieve what he wants.

He explained: "I'm looking for explosions and fireworks and grand finale, I don't really care how we get to that.

"I want the next Queens record to be like a condensed firework show where it's all grand finale."

The singer also admitted that if the group ever split up, fans shouldn't expect a reunion further down the line.

He said: "A buddy of mine said, 'Never do a reunion. Never do a sequel.' He's right. It's not what it was, it's what it is.

"And I've always been obsessed with now, because what's done is done and I can't go backwards. And I'm not going to walk backwards into my future, the only way I'll have a future is if I pay attention to now."
