Eric Cantona is being lined up for a cameo in 'Doctor Who.'
The soccer legend has been eyed up by the show's bosses who want the ex-Manchester United star to play an evil alien in the sci-fi TV programme.
The sportsman-turned-actor has previously worked in films such as 'Looking For Eric' and 'Jack Says' and will now be starring alongside Matt Smith - the 11th actor to play The Doctor.
Matt is rumoured to have persuaded the writer of the show, Steven Moffat to get Eric on the programme.
He said: "I'd like Eric to do one and I've mentioned it to Steven Moffat. Eric's got to be bad."
A source at the BBC added to the Daily Star newspaper: "Matt as made a huge impression. The writers and producers all value his input and give his ideas careful consideration. They like the thought of a French baddie and Eric would be perfect. He's got acting experience and has charisma."
Matt, who took over from David Tennant on earlier this year has admitted that at first he struggled to adjust to being on the show.
He said: "In my first week I rang my dad and went, 'I'm in trouble. There's a lot of stuff to learn. The type of language it is and everything else.' I talked to my dad a lot through my first month.
"I just tried to be brave and to be honest really, which is what every actor tries to do."
