One of the undisputed hits of last year’s Fringe is making a welcome return to Edinburgh. London’s Zoo Nation dance company attracted sell-out crowds and 5 star reviews for their dance/theatre/comedy hybrid show, Into The Hoods.

‘We were really surprised by the audience reaction,’ says director/choreographer, Kate Prince. ‘Our normal London crowd is quite youthful and urban, so playing to such a mixed audience was a very different scenario. We were worried they wouldn’t get it, but the response was really lovely.’

In 2006, the company performed in the vast UdderBELLY cow – the perfect venue for such a feel-good show. Unfortunately, it caused Prince and her team more than a few problems.

‘The trouble with the cow was there was just no backstage space,’ says Prince. ‘And people would walk off stage and into poles or bits of concrete, so we had injuries. If we hadn’t been in the cow last year, we probably wouldn’t have had the same success – but the Pleasance is also a great space for the show, and the audience is still really close.’
