'Emmerdale' actress Charley Webb was driven down a cobbled road by her boyfriend Matthew Wolfenden to try and make her go into labour.
Matthew Wolfenden drove Charley Webb down a cobbled road to help her go into labour.
The 'Emmerdale' actress was eight days overdue before she gave birth to her son Buster Lawrence on April 3 this year, and felt so uncomfortable her co-star boyfriend started trying out a number of traditional practices to help bring on the tot's arrival.
The 30-year-old actor - who plays David Metcalfe in the rural soap - said: "We tried all the old wives' tales - we went for a curry and we also drove down a bumpy cobbled street. Charley actually went into labour the day after that, so we think that did the trick."
But after months of waiting, Charley, 22, - who portrays mechanic Debbie Dingle in the ITV1 programme - eventually went into labour at an inconvenient time.
She told OK! magazine: "We were at a restaurant when I started having contractions. By the time we'd had our main course they were stronger so we had to go to hospital. I don't think Matthew was impressed - I think he wanted to finish his steak!"
Charley is the younger sister of former 'Hollyoaks' hunk Jamie Lomas - who is engaged to 'Coronation Street' star Kym Marsh.
The new parents have been supported greatly by Kym and Jamie, who dote on baby Buster.
Charley said: "We're really good friends, she's been very much involved. She's been great to get advice from as she has two children."
Matthew added: "Me, Jamie, Kym and Charley do a lot together. We're practically sister-and-brother-in-law anyway and they're besotted with their nephew."
