This year’s Eating & Drinking Guide has 113 new entries, which is more than one opening per week in both Glasgow and Edinburgh over the last 12 months. Not bad going for the worst recession in memory.
And they keep on coming. Just to give you a flavour, the roll-call of April unveilings in Glasgow includes Elià Greek on George Square, the Butcher Shop Bar and Grill close to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Bo’vine, a steak restaurant at the top of Byres Road.
Meanwhile, through in Edinburgh there’s a new Filipino restaurant, Rice Terraces, on St Leonard’s Street, Bella Mbriana at the foot of Broughton Street is reinventing itself as Locanda di Gusti, though it remains under the direction of chef Rosario Sartore, and a new location for Monster Mash (though only a few doors along Forest Road).
There will be more. Keep track of them here every fortnight and online.
