Snoop Dogg confirmed for Glastonbury
Controversial rapper Snoop Dogg has been confirmed as one of the major acts at this year's Glastonbury Festival, joining the likes of U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder.
The line-up for this year's Glastonbury has been announced with controversial rapper Snoop Dogg one of the big acts.
The star will join confirmed headliners U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder on the Pyramid Stage at the world famous music festival, which takes place in Somerset, South West England, over the weekend of June 25-27.
Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis says he was inspired to have Snoop Doog perform following Jay-Z's controversial headlining slot in 2008.
He said: "Jay-Z worked so well, when we heard it was a possibility that Snoop Dogg could do it we went to work."
Other stars to take to the various stages include Vampire Weekend, Florence and the Machine, Scissor Sisters, Jack Johnson and the Pet Shop Boys as the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Eavis said: "This is it! It is the most staggering line-up, to match the 40-year reputation of the festival. I have been trying to get U2 to play at the festival since 1982, and Muse have never headlined Saturday here, although they have played before."
Paul Stokes, associate editor of NME, said the line-up proved "the unique place Glastonbury occupies in not only the hearts of the British festival-going public, but also the world's most influential music artists".
