Artist Ajamu X has been working with Black and Minority Ethnic communities as well as members of the LGBTI community for over 20 years, exploring the ways that these marginalised communities operate outside the formal mechanisms of support. His new series of portraits, the result of a residency as part of GoMA’s sh[OUT] programme, depicts people from those communities, and looks at the politics around race, sexual orientation and exclusion in Scotland.
