Big picture: The Soda Waste - By Paul Smith
Sighthill photography project
Almost a year in the making, this incredible photography project documents the forgotten schemes and families of Glasgow’s Sighthill, before its demolition at the end of this month. Built upon derelict ground in the late-19th century, the area has had a troubled history, cemented by the death there of Turkish asylum-seeker Firsat Dag in 2001, a factor ultimately contributing to the schemes’ demolition. Photographer Paul Smith’s still life landscapes capture the area’s long-standing relationship with poverty and crime.
