Glasgow Craft Mafia Handmade Haven
Girlie Glaswegian glory-hunting
Between indie craft markets, vintage magazine auction sales and full on fancy frock-swaps there are loads of ways to get your consumerist kicks in Glasgow without having to brave the high street this fortnight. The Glasgow Craft Mafia, long-time favourites of The List, are holding their monthly market, doubtless with a festive twist: our current favourites are Cherry Loco’s delicate, original jewellery, and Ding Dong Designs’ brilliant Morrissey fingerpuppet (with detachable gladioli). Glasgow Women’s Library are offering the perfect chance to pick up a stocking filler for the fashion freak in your life, with a sale of all their vintage copies of Vogue magazine. And if you want to treat yourself without dipping into your present funds, might we suggest the Friday Frock Swap at Byblos? Bring along a dress you’re bored of, and swap it with someone else’s: experts will also be on hand to help out with alterations and to give you a complete hair and beauty make over.
Glasgow Craft Mafia Handmade Haven, Mono, Sun 29 Nov, 1–6pm. Vintage Vogue Sale, Glasgow Women’s Library, Thu 19 Nov, 5–7pm. Friday Frock Swap, Byblos, Merchant Square, Fri 20 Nov, 7–10pm (be there by 7.45pm).
