A comic book bible

Biblical scenes have inspired some of the greatest works of art ever created, but it’s been decades since a major artist tackled theology in a big way. Until now that is, as the legendary illustrator Robert Crumb retells the first book of the Bible, peeling away the religious symbolism to create a typically subversive, literal interpretation using clues from the text, and taking in settings that range from the Garden of Eden to Sodom and Gomorrah and the Egypt of the Pharaohs. The result of five years’ work by one of the most distinctive comic book artists The Book of Genesis is a must for the devout and atheists alike.
