ROCK
… And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead are one of those few acts who have established a strong and loyal fanbase without the majority of the world’s population being any the wiser. Having evaded the sting of a troubled flirtation with a major label, the band emerge this evening independent and as cherished as ever by their cult Glasgow following.
Largely met with awestruck stillness and casual head-banging from tonight’s packed crowd, the Texan collective, in full raging brilliance, spiral through the epic splendour of ‘It Was There That I Saw You’, ‘The Giant’s Causeway’, and near-flawless renditions of fan favourites like ‘Another Morning Stoner’. And though the entire set is wrought with visible energy – embodied in the staggering rock-outs of vocalist Conrad Keeley – the pace and noise picks up with drummer Jason Reece grabbing a mic, leading the charge and vanishing into the crowd for a storming performance of ‘Caterwaul’, bettered only by the impeccable ‘Mistakes and Regrets’. A confident and frenetic performance.
