Hugh Hefner is desperate to reconcile with ex-girlfriend Holly Madison, who he describes as the love of his life.

Hugh Hefner is desperate for Holly Madison to return to the Playboy mansion.

The 83-year-old magazine mogul says he is still in love with the 29-year-old blonde beauty and admits he has never got over their split.

He said: "I'd welcome Holly back with open arms because she is still the love of my life."

However, Holly - who moved out of the mansion last year after her split with Hugh - insists there isn't any chance of her returning.

She said: "I loved my time at the mansion and think the world of Hef. There comes a time in everyone's life where they need to go their own way."

Hugh now lives in the mansion with current girlfriends 19-year-old twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon and Crystal Harris, 22.

However, the ageing lothario isn't sure whether his relationships with Crystal will last.

He said: "How serious, and intimate, and important that works out to be, well we'll have to wait and see because it's only a couple months old."

Throughout his glittering career, Hugh has met many of the world's most glamorous celebrities but says there's only one he'd like to meet - Jesus Christ.

He added to Niche magazine: "I'd like to find out what Jesus Christ was all about. Separate the reality from mythology. Find out the roots of what has become a major religion of my time. I was raised in a good Methodist home and I had questions about organised religion, and I would love to have the answers."
