After relentless touring schedules, tremendous support appearances and several EPs, The Xcerts finally release their long awaited debut album. Filled with the most heart-wrenchingly catchy pop-rock melodies around – in particular the Snow Patrol-esque ‘Home Versus Home’ and the increasingly mature ‘I See Things Differently’ – this is an album even the most sternest of foot would find difficult to resist a little tap along to.
Although 2009 may be a little too far from the turn of the millennium for The Xcerts to be as significant as they could have been, In the Cold Wind We Smile is most certainly going to shoot the Aberdeen via Brighton trio into mainstream popularity.
