Bristol’s Julian Raymond Smith aka October is doing something not many other techno people are doing right now: something interesting. The approach? It’s a fusion of abstract but very catchy beat stuff, dub and analogue shape shifting.
There are all sorts of influences in here: Vogel, Herbert, Pole and other great producers of our time. But it’s not just club music – check the strung out vocal cut ‘Titled No 26’ and the ultra hypnotic ‘Euro Dance Hit’ which, believe me, is anything but. Stand out electronics are hard to find right now, so this is well worth a listen.
