Coco Rosie
The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn (Touch & Go)
TWEE
Lord, deliver us from hen-toed girls wearing glittering plastic jewelry and wielding Bontempi’s. Have they gone yet? No - Coco Rosie return with another archly twee album entitled The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn, a record that veritably drips with saccharine sweet poison and self-conscious affectations a-go-go.
And you thought no one would be so cruel as to splice trip hop fuggy nonsense with faux-folk poetics. Here the bastard offspring of an exorcised Tricky and adolescent Björk tinker with their instruments, mercilessly plopping musical influence on top of musical genre. Childish voices, forced glee, and goth-lite sentiments are enough to make the toughest stomach turn.
