Edinburgh Fringe names new director
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe has named Jon Morgan (pictured), executive producer with Contact Theatre in Manchester, as its new director, following the resignation of Paul Gudgin earlier this year.
Morgan previously worked with a number of Scottish arts venues and performing companies, including advising the Scottish Arts Council on the bid to establish the National Theatre of Scotland.
He said: 'I’m very pleased to be returning to Scotland's vibrant arts scene and am looking forward to getting started. It’s an exciting and demanding time for the Fringe and it’s clear to me that working in partnership with the huge variety of groups, individuals and supporters that make up the festival is key to the Fringe's continuing success.'
Gudgin's final day in the job will be Thursday 7 June, when this year's Fringe programme is launched. He is leaving to do consultancy work on festivals in other countries, including South Korea.
