John Mayer has hinted he is planning to propose to girlfriend Jennifer Aniston, adding he is organising a "creative" way to pop the question.

John Mayer has hinted he is planning to propose to girlfriend Jennifer Aniston.

The 'Gravity' singer - who has been dating the former 'Friends' singer on-and-off since early this year - admits he is organising a "creative" way to pop the question.

He said: "I think I'd be pretty good at proposing. I'd figure that out. I'd get creative."

John, 30, also revealed he has found a new method to writing songs, because everything he pens is misinterpreted.

Speaking at the Keep a Child Alive event in New York last night (13.11.08), John added: "You just have to write better so you can take your experiences and process them in a way that people can relate to without going, 'Oh, he's singing about so and so. I don't feel like he's connecting with me.'

"I feel in the last couple of years I've been very defensive. That's sort of the exact opposite of making music. The refinement process is a little harder. It's also difficult to write songs about love lost and love found. I believe in my ability as a writer. I think it might take a little longer."
