British comic John Cleese, 69, announced he has had a hair transplant during a candid interview on a UK talk show.

The British comic revealed he had undergone the drastic procedure during a candid interview on a UK talk show.

The 69-year-old star admitted the treatment after being quizzed on his recent hip replacement.

He said on 'Richard and Judy's New Position': "As we're talking operations, since I saw you last I've had a hair transplant."

When asked why he deemed it necessary to choose such an extreme solution to his hair loss, John replied: "Because I have got a very strange shaped head. It's very pointy. And I don't like wearing wigs."

The 'Monty Python' star also discussed plans for a movie he is writing based around his ongoing divorce from third wife - psychotherapist Alyce Faye Eichelberger - called 'May Divorce Be With You'.

The interview is due to be broadcast at 8pm on Watch tomorrow (14.11.08).

John's bitter divorce could see him lose a £1.2 million New York apartment and a £2.5 million house in Holland Park, London.

His estranged wife is also demanding £900,000 a year and half his earnings since 1992, claiming she is used to "being entertained by royalty in castles".

John recently said: "I think marriages should be like dog licences. You should have to renew marriage licences every five years, unless you have children."
