All Quiet on the Western Front

This stage adaptation of the anti-war novel by Erich Maria Remarque (which was adapted into an Oscar-winning film in 1930) depicts the alienation felt by German civilians returning from the trenches of World War I through the character of Paul Baumer, the dreamer whose spirits are kept alive amid the horrors of the Great War by the comradeship with his fellow soldiers.
