ROCK
Instead of nipping over to the UK to establish a reputation that can be built on back home, as so many American bands do, you sense California-based quartet Cold War Kids won’t need any such fix to win over their country folk.
Having skimmed their musical pointers from stateside rock, blues and soul, there’s a molten strength and intensity to the band’s sound that should burn them a tidy hole all of their own in the US market. It’ll help of course that, live, they’re utterly captivating: all clanging, reverby guitar and wailing vocals Tom Waits style. These kids are definitely alright.
