Jason Statham's Watson wish

Jason Statham wants to play Dr. Watson in Guy Ritchie's new movie.

The 'Transporter' star has been in touch with the director about the new Sherlock Holmes film - which stars Robert Downey Jr. as the fictional British detective - and thinks he would be the perfect candidate to play Holmes' sarcastic sidekick.

He is quoted as saying: "I have spoken to Guy about Sherlock Holmes, I see Robert Downey and speak to him too. It seems like a very exciting project for them both to get stuck into. I don't know if I will be ending up there. We'll see what happens. Dr. Watson would be great. Who knows?"

While talking to comic legend Frank Miller recently, Jason revealed he would love to play Daredevil in a new movie - the role originally made famous by Ben Affleck in the 2003 movie.

He said: "Absolutely, just give me the chance, I would love to be Daredevil."

Frank replied: "I think he should be Daredevil too."
