Kerrang! Tour 2007 featuring Biffy Clyro, The Bronx, The Audition and I Am Ghost
Barrowland, Glasgow, Tue 23 Jan
ROCK
An army of kohl-eyed kids may shake their dyed fringes in disagreement, but rock music these days isn’t just about American emo. By way of proof our nation’s beloved Biffy Clyro return, taking time out from working on their forthcoming fourth album Puzzle to headline the 2007 Kerrang! Tour and give fans a glimpse of their long-awaited new material.
It’s been three years since we last heard from the Ayrshire three-piece, whose last effort Infinity Land was easily their most adventurous work to date, mixing jagged riffs with classical and folk influences and surreal lyrical themes. However, as those lucky enough to hear the snarling attack of download-only Christmas release ‘Semi-Mental’ will testify, it seems the band have resurrected their love of thrashy and catchy anthems and given them an even darker twist.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, this tour comes with some top notch support in the form of deranged Californian scream-merchants The Bronx, whose live show has to be seen to be believed, Chicago pop-punk act The Audition and I Am Ghost, who tout Californian goth-metal, no less. Diversity, it would seem, is the new black in 2007. Eat your heart out, Gerard Way . . .
