Edinburgh International Television Festival

Nestled at the end of August is the Edinburgh International Television Festival which, frustratingly, is still an industry shindig but it’s good to know the calibre of celebrities you may be bumping into around town. This year’s line-up includes Doctor Who head honcho Russell T Davies and Heroes creator Tim Kring while celebrity chef Jamie Oliver gives the Richard Dunn Memorial Interview, waxing lyrical about the ideas that have made him a political powerhouse and a savvy businessman, before showing off his culinary talents in a live demonstration.

Elsewhere, the festival welcomes back mighty Scottish comedy writer, director and producer, Armando Iannucci, who follows in the footsteps of Al Gore to deliver the Alternative MacTaggart Lecture. Following its success on the small screen, this year the festival introduces their own Dragons’ Den sessions, offering producers the chance to pitch for real development money.

Ex-EastEnders hard man Ross Kemp will also be around to talk about the success of his series Ross Kemp in Afghanistan while Gok Wan is on hand with the fairy dust, providing his own spin on How to Look Good Naked, promising to round the festival off in suitable style.
