How does online advertising actually work?
So you've decided to advertise with List.co.uk. You would then choose to purchase an amount of our inventory (page impressions) to advertise on over a period of time. This could be across the whole site or specific to a sections such as Music or Film if you wanted to target your audience more closely. For example, if you had a business selling cinema tickets then it would make sense to advertise more heavily in the Film sections than across the whole site.
Each page on List.co.uk has a number of slots in which advertisements can be served such as banners, Leaderboards, skyscrapers and MPU's.
Adverts are served into these slots by an intelligent ad serving system called 'Open Ads'. As there is likely to be more than one person advertising in a section at any given time Open Ads will calculate the advert delivery to make sure that everyone's campaigns serve at the correct levels. The banner zone will have adverts served into it from all of the advertisers that wish to advertise in this particular section. It is however possible to buy all the advertising inventory exclusively within a page. It's probably easiest to run through an example to show you how this works. Continuing the cinema tickets example you might choose 100,000 banner impressions over four weeks on the Film section only. Open ads would then serve roughly 25,000 banners each week to the Film section across the length of the campaign which will provide you with the optimum response.

How can I monitor the effectiveness of my campaign?
